Black Robin - New Zealand Bird Illustrated Greeting Card

Black Robin - New Zealand Bird Illustrated Greeting Card

From an illustrated greeting card series featuring some of the rarest birds of New Zealand, the birds chosen for this series have particularly special conservation stories. These iconic birds are the world famous Black Robins.

About Black Robins: The story of the Black Robin is an iconic conservation story. Like many of New Zealand's birds, the Black Robin population was hit hard when humans introduced unnatural predators. Their population plummeted to an all time low of only 5 birds in 1980, which included only one breeding female, nicknamed Old Blue, who was past breeding age. Don Merton and his team of conservationists invented brave techniques to save the species from certain extinction, making history along the way. The Black Robin population has since grown to 250 birds, and they have become a symbol for conservation and are much loved around NZ.
