Bittern boom | Australasian bittern / Matuku-hūrepo | New Zealand bird illustration art print
This art print depicts an Australasian bittern in wetland habitat.
Our native bitterns are notoriously cryptic wetland boomers. They are sadly critically endangered with an estimated 1000 individuals in the whole country. They lurk around in shallow waters looking for eels and small fish to snack on, and during the breeding season the males will boom to attract a mate.
This art print is based on an original hand-painted gouache artwork. Each print is created with long-lasting matte pigment inks on textured, high quality archival 100% cotton rag paper.
